Faculty Positions in Interdisciplinary Telecommunications at the
University of Colorado, Boulder
The Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position in engineering or computer science beginning in August 2009. This search is part of a multiyear initiative to grow interdisciplinary research in networking and communication. Areas of interest include network security, network management, future Internet designs, space-based networks and wireless communication. Candidates in these areas that combine technology, policy, and economics research are of particular interest.
ITP is a unique program with faculty from electrical engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, law, and economics. Faculty research combines the technical, social, policy, and economic questions that challenge the development of the Internet, wireless and mobile communications, and the telephone network. This interdisciplinary view drives ITP's education mission. ITP is a graduate-student only program in which students take technical, policy, and business classes. The program has ties with many departments that support joint research programs and PhD student advising. The position will be jointly housed in ITP and an affiliated department in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (e.g. Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Aerospace Engineering Sciences).
Candidates must have a PhD in an engineering or related discipline, the ability to develop a successful independent research program, enthusiasm for both masters and PhD research and a commitment to teaching excellence. In addition, we highly value professional experience. Applications at levels besides that of assistant professor may also be considered from those with outstanding credentials.
Applications received by January 16, 2009 will receive priority consideration. Candidates should submit a letter of application highlighting their research and teaching credentials as well as their interest in fostering multi-disciplinary collaborations. The letter, complete curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, and the names and contact information of three references should be submitted using the university system's on-line application process at www.jobsatcu.com, posting 805514.
