The Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) is a global trade association dedicated to creating a favorable business, regulatory, and technological environment for companies that own, manage, or provide critical telecommunications systems in support of electric, gas, and water utilities; natural gas pipelines; critical infrastructure companies; and other industry stakeholders.

UTC and ITP are partnering to provide a unique education program for the utilities and other critical infrastructure industries. Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, a core curriculum has been launched to help train individuals with the necessary skills to integrate telecommunications technology into the electric power grid and other critical networks, facilitating the way for smart grid and other applications.

Digital Energy is one of the first graduate education programs of its kind. This rigorous joint graduate education program will provide both the academic fundamentals of telecommunication for modernizing critical infrastructure industries, and the practical experience from those in the field. The program is relevant to full-time students and full-time employees seeking additional educational experiences to enrich their capabilities. These educational programs would be provided as on-campus, over the internet, and/or at UTC events.
