April 2009

Ricardo Chavero worked as Project Manager on the Amazon River Project from February 2008-February 2009. The project, developed by the Engineering for Developing Communities (EDC) program at CU, consisted of implementing a telecommunications wireless network in the eastern part of Peru along the Amazon River for the purpose of delivering educational and/or telemedicine services to remote villages. This April, Ricardo was invited to present at the Human-Centered Computing in International Development workshop at the CHI (Computer-Human Interaction) 2009 conference in Boston, Massachussets. The workshop gave organizations across the world a platform for sharing ideas, learning about upcoming Information Communication Techonologies (ICT) for Development projects and networking among themselves.
