Bio

Ken BakerDr. Ken Baker has held various positions related to RF network planning and new product research and development at Nortel and Qualcomm Inc. In addition he has participated in the rollout of CDMA systems worldwide, as well as wireless industry consulting and training. Recently, he was editor and co-author for the chapter "Indoor Coverage", in the WCDMA (UMTS) Deployment Handbook, published in 2006 by John Wiley & Sons. He holds seven patents in CDMA communication system technology.

Professor Baker's research interests include all applications and methods related to wireless telecommunications. Within this field, he is currently pursuing the investigation of cognitive network techniques which use shorter range wireless physical links to enable applications such as robotic control, sensing, and security. This includes augmentations to the existing large area wireless network infrastructure to facilitate sensing and advanced indoor communications capabilities. The goal is to enable these systems to thrive and function well in the same physical locations, possibly sharing the same spectrum.
