Bio
Valerie Yates, an experienced telecommunications lawyer, is the Associate Faculty Director of ITP. She also serves as the Student Advisor for degree planning purposes. Prior to joining ITP, Valerie was in-house counsel at Comcast and handled legal and regulatory issues related to the launch of its IP-based voice service as well as the ongoing operations of its legacy circuit-switched telephone service. Previously, Valerie was an associate at Lawler, Metzger, Milkman, & Keeney, LLC, a telecommunications boutique law firm in Washington, D.C., where she represented clients in various proceedings before the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC"). Valerie is a former Assistant Chief of the then-named Common Carrier Bureau of the FCC (now called the Wireline Competition Bureau). She also served as Counsel to the Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau and as a staff attorney in the former Accounting and Audits Division. Prior to joining the FCC, Ms. Yates was a staff attorney in the Credit Practices Division of the Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Protection Bureau.
