A maximum of nine credit hours may be transferred either from other programs and departments at CU-Boulder or from other institutions and count towards degrees from ITP.
There are 3 scenarios in which courses may be transferred:
A recognized graduate school outside the University of Colorado at Boulder, providing:
Students complete Request for Transfer of Credit Form and submit it to the ITP office along with an original, unopened transcript, a transcript key, and a syllabus or catalog description of each course to be transferred.
The student must have completed at least one semester in ITP.
A provisional student cannot transfer credits until he or she has successfully completed the probation period.
A student can transfer up to nine credit hours of ITP classes taken prior to admission to the program (non-degree classes).
A student wishing to transfer more than nine credits must secure departmental approval and petition the Dean of the Graduate School for approval. More than nine credit hours will not be approved if they are taken after the student is formally accepted.
If approved by a faculty advisor, credits transferred in may fulfill one technical course requirement, one social science course requirement, and/or the programming course requirement.
Transfer courses must have a "B" grade or equivalent. Lower grades must be approved in writing by a faculty advisor.
No courses can be transferred if they were taken at an undergraduate level or were counted towards another graduate degree.
ITP courses taken prior to admission to the program (non-degree), providing:
Students complete Request for Transfer Credit Form and submit it to the ITP office along with a photocopy of an up-to-date transcript from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
A provisional student cannot transfer in pre-admission ITP credits until he or she has successfully completed the probation period.
A student wishing to transfer more than nine credits must secure departmental approval and petition the Dean of the Graduate School for approval. More than nine credit hours will not be approved if they are taken after the student is formally accepted.
If approved by a faculty advisor, pre-admission ITP credits may fulfill one technical course requirement, one social science course requirement, and/or the programming course requirement.
Pre-admission ITP courses must have a "B" grade or equivalent. Lower grades must be approved in writing by a faculty advisor.
No courses can be transferred if they were taken at an undergraduate level or were counted towards another graduate degree.
Any other graduate course from a program or department at the University of Colorado at Boulder, providing:
If approved by a faculty advisor, non ITP credits from the University of Colorado at Boulder may fulfill one technical course requirement, one social science course requirement, and/or the programming course requirement.
Students must complete Request for Transfer Credit Form and submit it to the ITP office along with a photocopy of an up-to-date transcript from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Non-ITP courses from the University of Colorado at Boulder must have a "B" grade or equivalent. Lower grades must be approved in writing by a faculty advisor.
No courses can be transferred if they were taken at an undergraduate level or were counted towards another graduate degree, except as allowed under approved joint degree programs.
Any program or department at the University may restrict attendance to their courses on the basis of student qualifications and pre-requisites. For example, the MBA program in the Leeds School of Business must pre-approve access to its courses (using the pre-approval form), and such access is usually only granted to students with qualifications equivalent to those required for admission to the MBA program.
